Lisa Hammer is currently the lead singer of the underground
ethereal rock group Mors Syphilitica. With her
husband, Eric, she has released three CDs and is working
on the fourth. In 2001 the band was signed to the independent
label Projekt,
who released their CD Feather
and Fate. The band has enjoyed exposure on Late
Night with Conan O'Brien, and MTV, and their
new video My
Virgin Widows can be seen across the U.S. on various
underground video shows. They have toured the U.S. several
times, leaving audiences "awestuck" (as many have
said), with their powerful combination of soaring rock-opera/dreamy
ethereal pop/ bluegrass and Middle-Eastern rock. For more
information on the band, please visit their WEB
SITE. You can hear mp3 songs, see video clips, read
reviews and news, and look through the picture gallery.
Besides the band, Lisa has performed with many other music
organizations, including:
Empire State Opera, New York Vocal Artists, Light Opera
on the Sound, New York Choral Symphony Society, Grace Choir,
and Westminster Choir College, to name a few. She created
her own Medieval Music Group The Vitulos Secession,
performing at private parties and ending their run in 1996
at a spectacular concert at New York's legendary Angel
Orensanz Foundation. The performance included a seven
piece vocal group, and five Early Music musicians, rounding
out the evening with selections from the ancient Carmina
Burana.
Lisa has also scored and co-scored many of her own
films.
In 1994, Lisa and her husband created a ritual side
project The
N.C.S., releasing one CD (which is out of print) and
performing one rite in a secret gathering. In the late 80's
Lisa and Eric were two of the founding members of the Gothic
Rock-Opera group Reqiem In White. The band enjoyed a huge
cult following, influencing many of the Medieval/ Ethereal/
Gothic Rock groups after them. There are a few sites to
